I just found this great article, Code ColdFusion applications fast with the Eclipse CFEclipse plug-in, on IBM’s site by Jim Priest.
It’s very comprehensive and covers everything from installing CF Server, to using the debugger, to publishing changes using Aptana. Very nice.

Here is another great book which I would like to share with everyone: Smart and Gets things done
This book is awesome for any manager looking to hire good talent. It's written by the legendary Joel Spolsk, host of the popular Joel on Software. Joel's writing style is so smooth and easy to read that it only took me a few sittings to read this rather short book. But from cover to cover, this book is packed full of helpful information. The way Joel illustrates things is great, and I fully plan on quoting him in future meetings when trying to explain to others how to recruit good talent or to illustrate why it can sometime be so hard to find that good talent.

I've been reading Wikinomics, a book on online collaboration, and it gave me an idea I wanted to run by everyone to see if it has any merit at all.
For a long time I've been trying to figure out how to make unit testing more commonplace within the CF community. CFers aren't alone in this actually, there are a lot of developers out there for various languages who know they should unit test, but for one reason or another never get to it.
So, here is my idea.

A few of you may have noticed, I have upgraded my blog. I had been running on Simple PHP Blog. That was a basic set up that met my (limited) needs initially. But it did not have all the features I needed if I wanted to keep the blog going. Mainly, its anti-spam support was not very good, and I wanted a blog which required me to approve all comments before they published to my site. The comment-spam had gotten so out of hand, I had to shut off comments. So I needed to upgrade to something better.
So I’ve now upgraded to WordPress. This is still PHP (sorry ColdFusion folks, I’m still too lazy to switch to a host with CF), but at least it has a more complete feature set.
This is not really note worthy for most of you I know. But I want to post it, because all the old comments did not carry over. So that’s why you see zero comments on all the posts, and if you have commented on one before it is now missing. If I find time, I might try to import all of them (I’ve archived them).

Last year, along with some of my coworkers, I read a book named Don’t Make Me Think: A Common Sense Approach to Web Usability, 2nd Edition by Steve Krug. Since then I’ve seen this book come up a few times. It’s a very quick and easy read, and I personally found it very interesting and helpful. So I wanted to share it with everyone.
This book is rather short, especially for a technical book, and is very fast paced. In fact I consider myself a slow reader, and even I was able to get through the whole book in just a few days. But it’s very well written and packed full of usefully ideas, backed by real world examples. I’ve heard from quite a few people about this book since I read it, and they all seem to have walked away excited about the fresh ideas this book inspired on how to improve usability.

Terrence Ryan posted yesterday that his OS utility, Squidhead now includes CFUnit tests. It's great to see CFUnit continue to proliferate like that.

Brian Kotek has created great new CFC Stub Generator which includes CFUnit support. Brian did a great job with this tool.
He also put together a great presentation. The presentation is a good example of how to use UML, CFML, unit testing, ANT together. So its worth watching even if you don't intend to use his stub generator.

Christopher Dean, the lead Architect and Developer on the Lunar Sample Database Application at the Johnson Space Center, sent me a great testimonial on CFUnit, which I have posted to the CFUnit site. It's really great to see CFUnit helping with great project like that.
